Man skal være god imod sin gamle far i julen. Når han fortæller om julen i sit barndomshjem, om sneen der dalede ned, om julehyggen, om sangene som ung og gammel kunne synge med på og om den hjemmelavede mad... ja, så bør man lytte intenst. Men, når han nu vil gentage forestillingen, bør man stige af, lynhurtigt. Men familien når det ikke. Den følger med på landet for at hente et juletræ.På vejen overhales de af et par bondedrenge i en roadster pickup, der åbenbart ikke er klar over, hvem der sidder bag rattet i familiebilen: Clark Grisworld. Manden der burde hedde kaos, manden der kan sende alle turistchefer i graven, har startet juleracet. Hvis du tror, julen er en smuk tradition, tager du fejl. In National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation we catch up with the disaster prone Griswold family for a festive dose of goofball, slapstick comedy of chaos and catastrophe. This time, Clark (Chevy Chase) and Ellen (Beverly D'Angelo) prepare for a quiet, traditional Christmas with the kids Audrey (Juliette Lewis) and Rusty (Roseanne star Johnny Galecki), when their home is invaded by backwoods cousin Eddie (Randy Quaid) and his brood.
Complications, of course, are inevitable, turning the Griswolds' Christmas holiday into anything but an occasion for peace on earth and there's certainly not much goodwill to spare when the rest of the repulsive family arrives for a spot of rejoicing.
This, the third in the series is one of the best - who hasn't lived through the horror of hanging around the Christmas Tree with crazed family members. Directed by Jeremiah Chechik, (Benny & Joon, Diabolique) National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is the sequel to the hilarious National Lampoon's Vacation (1983) and National Lampoon's European Vacation (1985). Chevy Chase (Fletch, Caddyshack) was in his element with this comedy series and delivers another trademark performance in Christmas Vacation. |
