På en varm sommerdag i et kunstgalleri i Rom, bliver den amerikanske forfatter Sam vidne til noget der ligner et mord. Låst inde i lokalets glasentré tvinges han til, uden mulighed for at gribe ind, at være tilskuer til mordet - og bliver udset som næste offer. Sam forvilder sig ind i en ond spiral af gale kunstnere, fejlinformerede politifolk og han modtager trusler, hvor der høres en kunstig kvidren fra en meget sjælden fugl. Bird with the Crystal Plumage is Dario Argentos directing debut. Based on a novel by Brian Edgar Wallace, it demonstrates themes for the first time that would later be tackled in masterpieces such as Profondo Rosso and encouraged the creation of many copycat thrillers. It tells of an American writer (Tony Musante) in Rome who witnesses a murder while passing an art gallery. The attacker traps Musante and he is forced to watch the woman struggle until the police arrive. The police question Musante and take his passport. He than sets out to investigate the murder himself with the aid of his girl friend (Suzy Kendall) piecing together clues along the way. Can they solve the mystery before or is it too late? |
